The world day for Safety and Health at Work, held annually on April 28th, is a concept originating from the International Labour Organisation (ILO). In line with their strong commitment to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHAD) wanted to hold an event to mark this important date in the safety calendar, called ‘OSH Day’.
Each year a different technical topic is chosen, in 2015 the subject of ‘Building a Culture of Prevention’ was selected. OSH Day was designed to establish a framework between workers and their employers by focusing on implementing and managing systems that prevent work-related incidents and risks through adopting the necessary tools and methods that comply with Abu Dhabi’s development plan and international best practice.
Myriad Global Media Middle East organized the event on behalf of OSHAD sourcing the venue, lighting, sound, signage and inviting a panel of guest speakers. Leading up to the day the Myriad team designed and delivered a multi-media, multi-channel and multi-lingual promotional campaign to raise awareness, including newspaper adverts, posters, flyers, stickers and other promotional giveaways.
The event saw 200 people attend from the government and private sector. It successfully provoked engaging and insightful discussion around safety culture and prevention amongst the attendees. The event also generated significant coverage on social media channels such a Twitter, with attendees live tweeting and uploading pictures from the event.
